Just back from London, where I saw the first piece of theatre in years to completely break my heart open - simple, truthful storytelling, exquisite writing and the acting - well, Juliet Welch had me bawling my eyes out - for all the right reasons - honest, humane, heart breaking. It was the last night or I would be urging you all to see Transports by Pipeline Theatre. Restored my faith in theatre.

I thought Anna Munden's acting was astonishing. The writing just knocked my socks off and the ingenuity of the set too. I was in tears and I been talking about it ever since to anyone who will listen. Here's to finding it a wider audience.'
Tamsin Cottis

  • It was just the best play I have seen for a really really really long time. In fact I'm not sure that I have ever been so moved by a play, or reduced to tears that wouldn't stop when the lights came on! I needed to sit there for a bit longer in the dark thinking . . . . and having a good weep. Blown away and overwhelmed were the words that stuck with me. More more please!I could go on and on.

  • Anna Munden's perceptive and convincing performance in 'Transports', alternating between a fostered teenager of the 1970's and a young German -Jewish refugee of the 1940's, showed a maturity well beyond her seventeen years, and gripped my attention throughout. Pipeline Theatre Company have created a poetic and affecting play that moves between three periods of time, hinged on the flick of a duster or the flap of the laundry on the line. With an imaginative set and costume design, excellent rapport between the two actors and between actors and audience, this 'tour de force' show should be on tour !!

  • I came to see transports on Friday night and thought it was BRILLIANT. The set was so imaginative. I will remember the performance for a long time.  Let me know where it moves to next and I will tell friends to go and see it- fantastic!'

  • 'One of the most moving, if not the most moving pieces of theatre I have ever seen. Staggering acting and a beautiful script. I'm speechless...Most heartbreaking, thrilling, direct piece of theatre I have seen in ages...Still haunting me.

Storytelling at it's very best-an unforgettable evening

I was truly transported. You could have heard a pin drop - the audience were mesmerised. So very talented - what a writer Jon Welch is. Thank you all for such a memorable and brilliant evening.
Chloe

Like everyone else at the Tolmen on Saturday, I was spellbound, bowled over, emotional, speechless. I woke up in the morning thinking about it and have continued to have flashbacks since. It was very powerful. Jon Welch's writing, the dialogue, the drama, the performances .... all first rate.  More people need to see this play - are you touring it further? Amazing.
Chris

I know I spluttered a few words at the end there but I was absolutely mesmerised by the performance, the subject, the script and by both actors. To say it drew on a whole range of emotions is no word of a lie.
Helen

Everyone around me was equally stunned and moved by the sheer quality of the production here in the depths of Cornwall. You MUST take it on tour.
Tessa

What a parallel journey you took us on, effortlessly switching us across tracks, and weaving the narratives ... so many great human touches to build both characters - mesmerising ... The lightness of each touch, accumulated to touch deeply.
Martin

Audience comment received by venues:

'This play has broken my heart open completely-I haven't felt this emotionally trashed in entirely the MOST RIGHT way by theatre since, I can't remember when. The acting was so heartfelt, generous and authentic. The script was so beautifully written. Change nothing. Bloody Marvellous. Want more. This absolutely must be seen by everyone.'

'A superb story told through such brilliant actors and great use of set. The intimacy of the space was incredibly special-please keep it!'

'Well worth transferring to a bigger theatre'

'Absolutely wonderful, A very moving piece, well written and fantastic staging'
