Following the success of our last community play, 'The Angels of Fore Street', in late 2019 we made:
'Beneath Old Hill'
- where Eastenders meets Game of Thrones!
Following our first smash hit community play - ‘The Angels of Fore Street’ - which sold out at the Regal Theatre, Redruth in 2017, Pipeline Theatre spent the Autumn creating a brand new, combining actors from ‘The Angels’, and a new cohort from the Old Hill area around the Dracaena Centre, featuring many first-time actors, across a wide age range, many overcoming significant personal challenges to bring you possibly our most ambitious venture yet! This was the story:
A troubled teenager returns to her family; Nina’s Community Café is under threat from a dodgy landlord; and there’s been a recent crime wave. And that’s not to mention the soap opera of daily realities in this characterful neighbourhood: Will Jared ever ask Celia out? Can Zoe create a happy household? Can Deirdre make a latte? And what about the story that Stella the librarian tells, of the so-called Fire-boy?
Exactly what is it that lurks… Beneath Old Hill?
Reactions were amazing, both from participants and audience:
'I absolutely LOVED it!'
Hall for Cornwall
'Amazing story, brave acting, stunning dragon, and thank goodness a happy ending. Every single person on the stage added something to the story telling. Brilliant!'
Feast, Creative Kernow
'Being with people from all ages and all walks of life, and supporting each other like a family has been incredible.'

'I'm just so proud of what we have all achieved.'
